Welcome to Lorraine’s Counselling and Wellbeing – Your Safe Space for Personal Growth

Thank you for visiting Lorraine’s Counselling and Wellbeing. I’m truly glad you’re here.
Taking that first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but rest assured, you’re not alone on this journey. I understand firsthand how overwhelming it can be to search for the right therapist—sifting through websites, wondering who might be the best fit for you.
The fact that you’re even thinking about therapy and exploring different therapists is an important step on your journey. Whether you’re ready to begin now or still weighing your options, both are perfectly normal. This is your personal wellbeing journey, and you’re in control every step of the way.
This blog is designed to help you get to know me, reassure you about the therapy process, and hopefully make that next step feel less intimidating.
If you choose to engage in therapy with me, I’ll be here, walking beside you every step of the way.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via email or text—I’m happy to assist if I can.
Understanding the Therapy Journey
Whether this is your first time seeking therapy, or you’ve been in therapy before, reaching out for support can be a courageous decision. You might be feeling uncertain or anxious about what therapy might involve, rest assured, you’re not alone, many people share these concerns. It’s perfectly natural to wonder what your experience will be like and how therapy may work for you.
At Lorraine’s Counselling and Wellbeing, my goal is to make your therapy experience as smooth and supportive as possible. I want you to feel confident and comfortable, knowing you have someone who genuinely cares about your wellbeing by your side.
What’s Next?
If, after reading this blog, you feel that we could be a good fit, the next step is to book a discovery call. You can contact me via email, phone, text, or through the contact form on my website. I’m here to answer any initial questions you may have and to provide a safe, open space for you to explore your needs.
What is a Discovery Call?
A discovery call is an informal conversation where we get to know each other. It’s not a therapy session, but a chance for me to learn more about why you’re seeking therapy at this time. I’ll ask a few key questions to understand your needs better, and we’ll discuss how my approach may support you.
You’re welcome to have discovery calls with other therapists until you find someone you feel comfortable with—this is a normal part of the process. There’s no pressure, and I encourage you to take your time in making this important decision.
After the Call—Moving Forward with Therapy
Once you’ve decided that I’m the right therapist for you, we’ll schedule your first session. This can be tailored to suit your needs based on the type of therapy you prefer:
- Online/Phone Therapy: If you prefer flexibility, online or phone sessions are a great option. We’ll meet virtually in a secure, private setting, allowing you to attend therapy from the comfort of your own home or another safe space. Many clients find that online therapy fits seamlessly into their busy lives.
- IM/Email Counselling: If you opt for instant messaging or email counselling, we’ll arrange a time to chat online, or we can agree on a time for exchanging emails. This method is great for those who prefer writing as their form of expression.
- Face-to-Face Therapy: If you prefer in-person sessions, we’ll meet in my peaceful, dedicated therapy room in Worth, located between Sandwich and Deal, with easy access from nearby villages such as Ash, Eastry, and Woodnesborough. This serene environment provides a quiet, calming space where you can feel truly at ease.
- Walk and Talk Therapy: For those who enjoy the outdoors, Walk and Talk Therapy might be the perfect fit. Our first session will either be face-to-face or online to discuss your needs, after which we’ll create a plan for your outdoor therapy sessions. Walking in nature while we talk can feel less formal, and many clients find it deeply grounding and therapeutic.
Your Therapy Space
If you’re attending in person, my therapy room is a private, dedicated space with its own separate entrance for complete privacy. You don’t need to worry about seeing other clients—I leave gaps between appointments to ensure your confidentiality. There’s convenient parking on my driveway, and you can access the therapy room via the double wooden gates.
Inside, you’ll find a calming, comfortable environment, with bottled water, tissues, and restroom access available. Photos of the therapy room are included on this website, so you can familiarise yourself with the space before your visit.
Whether you’re meeting me in person, online, or through Walk and Talk Therapy, my focus is on creating a safe, supportive space where you feel ‘held’ and truly heard.
What to Expect in Therapy
In your first session, we’ll explore what you hope to achieve through therapy, how we can work together, and what the overall process might look like for you. I’ll explain the benefits of therapy, confidentiality boundaries, and make sure you feel supported at every step.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and I’m here to accompany you in a way that feels comfortable and right for you. Whether we’re in the therapy room, online, or walking by the sea, you’ll have a space where you can truly be yourself, express your thoughts and feelings freely, and begin your journey to self-actualisation.
